Attract Prospects in Groups

One of the simplest ways to immediately generate sales and profits is to piggy-back other successful ideas, promotions, and strategies.

There is no shame in using marketing ideas that are working for other companies. For this strategy to work, you need to keep on the lookout for compelling marketing trends. You also need to become part of a mastermind or networking group. And once you are, just ask people what is working for them today. Riding the coattails of others’ successful marketing and advertising is smart because you reduce or eliminate your learning curve. Moreover, you pave a quicker road to your success.

So, what is the trend that has been working and attract prospects and potential clients for many businesses today? It is hosting a free training!

Financial advisers, money managers, and successful entrepreneurs host free training. Even big box home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowes have been hosting free workshops, classes and events. All of them does this for their prospective clients and customers for years.

They conduct these free events because they are popular and a big lead generator for they attract prospects in groups. These free workshops provide information, which provides value. They offer something that the customer wants–a solution to challenges or problems that they are having. And, in return, the customer becomes more likely to do business with them.

You too can create your workshop to generate and attract prospects as well as build credibility.

Free information-laden workshops are an excellent way to attract prospects and new people into your fold. Moreover, using this tactic you can further develop stronger relationships with your existing customers. While offering them free information on your area of expertise, they will also learn about all of the ways that you can support them, along with how and why they should purchase your product or service.

Creating your workshop or event is as easy as 1-2-3:
  1. Decide when and how often you want to offer the free workshops. You will want to conduct these at least once a month to enhance your relationship building. Moreover, you will also establish credibility and increase your marketing funnel.
  2. Decide how long your workshops should last. We have found that one to three hours works well.
  3. Create an outline that details the type of information you will be sharing with your current and prospective clients. There are several successful formats you can use at the workshop:
    • An Education-Based Informational presentation
    • A Case Study with examples
    • A Question & Answer Forum
    • An Interview with the Expert (Hot Seat Yourself)
    • A Hands-On, Do-It-Yourself Workshop
    • A Product or Service Demonstration

While you can test multiple styles and formats, one thing is vital and consistent with everything we have discussed about marketing—you must educate and provide value with useful, relevant, and fresh content! So once you know your message and how you will capture your customers’ attention and deliver tremendous value, it is time to deliver your message.

The great thing is that there are so many methods for delivery:

  • live events,
  • teleconferences,
  • webinars,
  • live video feeds,

…just to name a few.

With today’s technology, you are not locked into delivering from a physical location. Although, doing it old-school is still an option.

Here are some of the many possibilities:

  • Video
    • With an inexpensive video recorder or webcam, you can easily film yourself presenting a workshop and then upload that video for free to a service such as YouTube. To get the most exposure, be sure to advertise the online video workshop in your regular marketing efforts.

  • On-Location/In-office/Store/Warehouse/Factory Presentations
    • Invite people to your business or elsewhere on-location to listen and watch your informative presentation.

  • Teleseminars
    • With this strategy, you get a teleconference phone number and have prospects call in on a certain day and time.

  • Audio CD, MP3, or Flash Drive
    • You can record your workshop using software on your computer and then burn copies to a disc or flash drive. Some services will do the whole process for you, from burning to labeling to mailing out the finished product.

  • Webinars
    • You can use a service that records your computer screen (like Camtasia) while you are providing information using a PowerPoint slide presentation. Two popular platforms to consider are GoToWebinar and Omnovia.

This strategy is especially useful. However, it is important to aggressively promote the training and provide content that is relevant to your marketplace so that you add the desired value.

Also, use public relations to promote your event. If you are contributing something of significance, you can attract media attention and even incorporate it into your marketing plan.

You can generate some massive publicity, referrals and quality lead through implementing this teaching strategy. It is fun, practical, and easy to achieve.
